Monólogo de Amparo "Soñaba, ilusionada": Ante la reunión de la Liga del Norte en Marineda (basado en eventos históricos), Amparo se presenta con las cigarreras para darles su apoyo moral. Lanza un discurso emocionado y acalorado, en el que expone sus sueños de cómo le gustaría participar como activista revolucionaria.
Aria Presidente "Acércate, jovenzuela": Acto seguido, Amparo le ofrece un ramo de rosas al Presidente del Círculo Rojo, anfitrión del evento. Este, visiblemente impresionado, alaba su vigor y su sabiduría, nombrándola Tribuna del Pueblo, ante las aclamaciones de los asistentes, cuya intervención veremos insinuada por un pequeño coro "a tres", que en la ópera realmente es un gran coro final que cierra el primer acto.

Amparo's Monologue "Soñaba, ilusionada" ("I dreamt full of joy"): Amparo and her workmates gather in front of the Liga del Norte meeting (a historic revolutionary event) to express their moral support. Amparo holds an emotional and heartfelt speech, in which she lays out her dream of how to participate as revolutionary activist.
President "Acércate, jovenzuela" ("Come here, young girl"): Following her speech, Amparo offers a bunch of roses to the President of the Círculo Rojo (Red Circle), who is visibly impressed. He praises her vigor and wisdom, naming her Tribuna del Pueblo (People's Tribune), being happily acclaimed by the surrounding people, whose following big choir closes the first act, here merely hinted at by a small three-voice excerpt.
